Hidden Scar Surgery:
We recognize that a cancer diagnosis is more than just medical. It impacts everything about a patient -- mind, body and spirit. Dr. Winchester was the first surgeon in the state of Alabama to begin to incorporating oncoplastic techniques in breast surgery many years ago. Her philosophy and passion in providing the very best medical as well as cosmetic outcome for her patients has extended her practice to encompass mentoring and training other physicians around the country in oncoplastic techniques. She again has advanced her approach by offering Hidden Scar techniques in conjunction with oncoplastic techniques. Dr. Winchester has undergone extensive additional training to provide patients the best in surgical intervention -- both medically and cosmetically. Whenever possible we offer Hidden Scar oncoplastic surgery to our patients. An incision is made in an inconspicuous area, resulting in less visible scarring. By using this approach they are able to preserve a natural-looking breast by sparing the nipple, areola and surrounding tissue.
The Hidden Scar approach helps ease the emotional impact of breast cancer surgery with little to no visible reminder of the surgery and experience a more natural-looking breast reconstruction.
